Music Picks of NOW!

Hello there fellow Wizards!
So I haven't been here for a while, but that doesn't matter. WE HAVE MORE IMPORTANT THINGS TO DISCUSS! And that is mainly music... So lets jump in (what she said).

1. PASSENGER - Omg, this is such a brilliant album, it always makes me feel so good, there are so many brilliant messages in this. For me personally, I listen to this when I'm a bit sad or just trying to relax because the lyrics are just beautiful! My fave song from their new album - All the Little Lights - include;

  • Things that stop you dreaming.
  • Let her go.
  • Life's for the living.
  • Holes.
If you like music like Ben Howard and such this will be approved and you will soon begin to love it as much as I do.

2. ARCTIC MONKEYS HAVE A NEW SONG! Yep, of course I knew this on the exact date it came out due to my brilliant friend Alex and also due to YouTube and Twitter! I was like DAYUUUUM THIS IS SUM TUNNNNEEE (Not really but you know what I mean). 'Do I Wanna Know?' Is their new track and I love it, every time I'm in the car just listening to my earphone with my daddy driving and it comes on, the volume goes UP and I'm like HELLS YEAAAH. So yeah, go listen to it because it is insanely brilliant!

3. I'll give you one last song, which I'm listening to right now as I write this post. Lucy Spraggan - Tea and Toast. I really don't have much to say about this only that it's on repeat because I love it too much. *teary eyes* it's just too sweet and I love it.

So I'll leave that with y'all, I hope you get a chance to listen to some of these because they're brill. I know you loved my 'gangsta' talk today.

'til we meet again,

Things I'm crap at...

Hello there young people of the universe. I have arrived here to tell you about things that I'm just that crap at - apart from EVERYTHING. Now, every teenager comes to a phase where they feel that they are crappy and are not good at anything, so, I have decided to tell you what I really can not manage to do...
  1. I can not DANCE for shit. It's sad to be honest, I am hopeless when it comes to dancing. I remember those days in primary school when we went to the disco and I stood at the front of the dance hall right in front of the DJ and 'danced'. Oh yes, my brilliant dance. It consisted of me moving one step right, go back, one step left, go back again, and that was pretty much it. Just did that for 2-3hrs. And yet now as a young, crazy, wild teenager, that dance had not yet changed, but instead, I add some twirly hand gestures just to get the crowds going.
  2. I am awful at ART. When I was younger, I enjoyed art, I liked drawing horsies and more horsies. But those 'gifts' have now left the world as I continue to draw, but instead rude images in other peoples school planners, or the faces of people who I highly dislike. Last year, I was doing art in lesson and the teacher patrolled the classroom giving each student a good comment. As she reached my art work (which I had tried my hardest on) she skipped it. Not ONE word came from the teacher, it broke my heart and I decided to hate her from then on.
  3. I can not manage to SING. It's awful I sound like a farting dog when I sing. I can't even bear to hear myself sing, I can't imagine what other people are thinking.
I will leave you with those 3 things that I can not do WHAT-SO-EVER. What are you crap at?
Thanks for reading this post, I hope you enjoyed it

Current Game Love

Hello dear readers,
So, I kind of like video games. I enjoy sitting by my laptop and just playing stuff. When I was young, I would go on the internet and play neopets, stardoll or club penguin, but now that I have grown up a teeny tiny bit, I prefer playing video games. Now I am one of those 'losers' who doesn't play 'scary' games. I just don't like it! So here are the games that I am currently loving;

  1. Prison Architect. This game is A.W.E.S.O.M.E. I really enjoy playing it, I feel like it's not only fun but also stimulates your brain, and that's always good! This game mainly consists of you building your own prison and then running it. Prisoners, like in real life, always cause problems such as fights and riots which you, the 'God' if you wish, have to fix these problems. It's quite interesting and different, but I enjoy playing it!
  2. SIMCITY. Yes, I do play the old version, but I still think it's pretty good. People always judge it because it looks old and feels old when you play it, but I think its great! You always have to use your brain and I think that this keeps you more entertained. That's always important, right? People definitely judge this game far too quickly and I think that's not fair. I recommend everyone to check this out, the new version looks amazing too!
  3. SIMS 2. If I have SIMCITY, I need to have SIMS. Now yes, here I have put 2 but I prefer it to the third one! I have both, and the second one is definitely better. I feel that you get more options and ideas in the second one whereas the third is just a money-making scheme. I've loved SIMS 2 for years and years! Since I was in primary school! And I still love it! You MUST check this out, it is utterly amazing.
  4. MINECRAFT. I do not understand who could not like this game! It has so many opportunities and there is so much to do! I think this game beats all the 'shooter' games, it is just brilliant. You MUST check this out if you haven't heard of it (I doubt it). I think it is underrated just because everything is made of blocks but in my opinion that just adds to the entire idea of the game.

Well, yep. That's about it! You have to check out all of these games because they're just amazing! Thanks for reading.

Getting ready for exams

Hey Guys,
Okay so as we near the summer, not only are we expecting hot weather and sunshine but we are also a bit skeptical as exams near. Here in England, I am in year 10 (14-15yrs) and because the government have made all exams terminal, this means that I will have three science exams in June. Now this worries me because I should be getting the best grades possible but if I fail just one exam, I will have to retake all of them. Last year, I did my first three science exams and passed with flying colours, so here are a few of my tips for achieving the best grade for you.

1) To start off, YOU NEED revision guides! Do not expect to pass your exams without the necessary books. Even if you have the best teachers, you still need to go over everything you have learnt and if you don't have great teachers (like myself) you must go through the whole topic otherwise you won't know everything you need to!

2) REVISE, REVISE, REVISE! It doesn't make a difference whether you have revision guides or not, if you don't revise, trust me, you won't be getting grades better than a D. You need to space out your time in order to make sure you are ready for every single exam. Whether that means doing 3 hours of revision in the weekend, or doing a 30min revision session on school nights, you must revise!

3) Make NOTES! After you read through one page of the revision guide, make notes of all the main important factors, this will help you remember everything you need to know.

4) Write out your own QUESTIONS! After you write a page of notes, use those notes to make up questions that go along side your notes. This will give you material to practice and memorize important facts and figures. If your revision guide already comes with questions, you shouldn't skip this part as I think writing your own questions helps you remember the answers which in turn gives you a clearer idea of what the answers are.

5) PRACTICE exam questions! This is so vital because this means that you will get an idea of what the questions in the paper will be like and how you should answer them. This will really help you out when it comes to sitting the actual exam! You can easily get these by either going on the exam boards website and looking for past papers or ask a teacher in school.

6) And finally, DO NOT give up! If you don't understand something don't just leave it! Ask a friend or teacher for help, although you might feel embarrassed or stupid, you shouldn't! It's extremely important to ask for help as that will make you more confident when it comes to exams. If you get tired, do not force yourself to do the work, just add extra revision time to another day, just don't stop revising all together!

Well those are pretty much my top tips if I haven't forgotten anything! I hope you guys do great on your exams, if you have any questions, write them down in the comments section and I will make sure to reply as soon as possible!

I've found some new music...

Hello there!
Well, yesterday I was patrolling iTunes in search for some new good bands. Of course I was looking in the Alternative music section, I found some pretty cool bands which I wanted to share with you, so here is goes...

1.      First Aid Kit - Lions Roar. So this band has been around for a while now, I remember I had found them like half a year ago. I liked them at first, but I just left it. But now I have popped it on to my phone, I like it quite a bit. I really like "Emmylou". These girls really remind me of the Florence and the Machine type music, and if you read my Favourites of 2012 then you know I'm quite a fan of Florence. If you are into calm, quite country styled music, then you will love this band!

2.      The Lumineers - The Lumineers. Now these guys are popular in our little Indie community. But I never really listened to them. Yesterday, I took a look and they are pretty good, I really like their song "Classy Girls". I love the fact that they are kind of up-beat but slow and then fast, if you know what I mean. They really remind me of an American-type Mumford and sons, which also if you read my Favourites of 2012 blog post you would know I love them. I recommend them if you're into indie/country music.

3.      Veronica Falls - Waiting for something to happen. I have never heard of this band in my life until yesterday! But I like them. One of my favourite songs is, "Teenage" I don't know why but I like it. They remind me of the Vaccines, who I absolutely love! I recommend these lot!

4.       Finally, I re-discovered a song by THE ARCTIC MONKEYS! My favourite band is actually the Arctic Monkeys, and I now found the song, "Mardy Bum" and I am obsessed! I love it! I love the lyrics, I love Alex Turners voice, I just love all of it! I highly recommend it!

So that pretty much concludes it! Though currently I am listening to Jake Bugg, I think it's pretty cool. But I might have to make a different blog post about it!

Chocolate Chip Cookies! - Recipe

Hello,
Today, like always, I was extremely bored but unlike most days, I decided to do something! I made Chocolate Chip cookies! Now these weren't any normal cookies, these were delicious cookies! I decided to share this recipe with you because I want everyone to get a chance to eat such amazing food, so here it is!

Ingredients:
  • 2 cups plain flour.
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda.
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt.
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, melted.
  • 1 cup dark soft brown sugar.
  • 1/2 granulated sugar.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract.
  • 1 egg.
  • 1 egg yolk.
  • Chocolate chips of your choice, I used milk and white chocolate chips.
Method :
  1. Preheat your oven to 165 degrees.
  2. Grease 2 cookie sheets or line your baking pan with parchment paper.
  3. Begin to melt the butter in a small pan over a small heat.
  4. In a bowl, mix together flour, soda  and salt. Make sure to stir everything together well! Set this bowl aside.
  5. Once the butter has melted, cream together the butter, sugar, vanilla, egg and egg yolk in seperate bowl. Do this until everything is fully blended.
  6. Gradually mix in the dry ingredients into the butter/sugar mixture. Make sure not to over mix it!
  7. Then, using a wooden spoon, stir in your choice of chocolate chips.
  8. Put your cookies on the cookie sheet about 8cm apart from each other.
  9. You want to bake the cookies for about 17-20mins or until golden brown.
  10. Once the cookies have finished baking, place them onto a cooling rack and leave for 10-20mins to cool.
NOW EAT!

I hope you enjoy these cookies as much as I do! Leave a comment below telling me how your cookies turned out!

VALENTINES DAY COMING UP?!?!

Hi All,
Okay, yes, here comes the day again... Valentines day, is it just me who despises this idea? I think it's fun when you have someone to share with but as a teenage girl, who still plays with Lego and is probably socially awkward, I'm worried. I'm honestly worried. I'm not necessarily the hottest (or most popular) chick in school but people do know of my existence and I'm pretty sure that I will not have a valentine this year. Luckily, I am not alone. My best friend, also a socially awkward weirdo feels the same way as me.
We both believe that there shall be no love for us on Valentines Day so we have created the ''Forever Alone Sleepover.'' We decided to do this on the weekend after V-day. This mainly consists of a sleepover of watching sad movies, eating as much shit as possible, and listening to beautiful love songs - mainly from Lana Del Rey. We will cry and be happy that we at least have each other.
Do you believe you will be alone this Valentines Day? Don't worry! Sit back, pop on Titanic with a MASSIVE box of vanilla (my fave) ice-cream and just let yourself go!
Just remember, just because you don't have a Valentine, it doesn't mean you are some kind of crazy freak who will never find love (other than me, who this applies to).

Good luck and as always,
'till we meet again

First Favourites of 2013 - January

Hi All,
So I decided to attempt to make a blog of my favourites for each month, this means that it will be like a little kind of diary of my most loved things as I age. So my method of doing this is just adding to the post at different times when I have different favourites, this will ensure that I don't miss anything out. I think it will be great to do this and I hope I can post one of these at the end of each month. In these I will include mainly things such as favourite songs, lyrics, weird stuff, food, images and occasionally maybe even an item of clothing! I know we're already into February but I thought better late than never right?
So lets begin...

  • I have been loving to chew '5 gum' in school. It's just so refreshing and gives you something to do whilst you are dying of boredom in lessons! Although we are not allowed to chew gum in school many of us still do, including myself, and I honestly love this gum after eating something smelly or just to chew gum!

  • My Nivea Milk and Honey lip balm has been an absolute must have! In England the weather has been a complete mess and this has had a huge effect on my lips! So I love having this handy at all times so I can just moisturize my lips whenever I feel like it.

  • For Christmas I actually received a watch which I completely love! It is so beautiful and I think it's just great! I have been wearing this literally EVERYWHERE! This watch is actually from River Island so it was most certainly a great deal!

  • For favourite songs of the moment I have been completely in L.O.V.E with three Daughter songs. This is yet again indie music so if you like that sort of stuff I definitely recommend all of these! I have been listening to "Peter", "Youth" and best of all "Run". I checked and through the course of four days I listened to run 216 times! This song has been on repeat day and night! I just love the words and her beautiful voice!

  • Seeing as I have just mentioned three of the most amazing songs currently, here are some of the best lyrics (in my opinion) from these songs...

  • For Christmas I was also gifted a pair of Chuck Taylor All Star Converse Leather Hi's in white. I am completely obsessed with them! and have been wearing them EVERYWHERE! I am really a person who LIVES in converse so these are perfect for me especially in the winter!

Those are pretty much my favourites!
Make sure to comment down below with your favourite clothing item, song and food for the month of January!

What to do when going on a long trip...

Hi All,

Tomorrow, I am going on quite a long car journey, 4 hours there and 4 hours back. So that is basically a whole time of 8 hours, of just sitting in the car. I have done this before and I honestly know the feeling of being bored in the backseat, in this post I am going to tell you my top tips for what to do on long distance travel. I would also like to note that I am sorry if I mention any items that you do not own but this is what I myself would take...
So lets begin!
1. WATCH something! It truly passes the time! Why not go on iTunes download some TV episodes or rent some movies so you can pass the time in the car. If you are in the UK, I highly recommend to download an APP called BBC iPlayer. This allows you to download catch-up TV for free and to watch it on the go without any internet connection! These are the TV shows I am taking on my iPad for the trip:

  • The Big Bang Theory - Season 6, episodes 10-13.
  • Pretty Little Liars - Season 3, episode 14.
  • Ripper Street - Season 1, episode 1 and 2.
  • Africa - BBC documentary, episode 1 and 2.
  • The Polar Bear Family and Me - BBC documentary, Episodes 1-3.
Lana Del Rey, Born to Die Paradise Edition.
2. LISTEN to music! I know this is pretty obvious, but just find some new music and put it on your phone/iPod/music player! Try surfing the net whilst chilling out to some music!

3.PLAY some games! If you have an iPad like myself, download some fun apps to play on to pass the time! I recommend; Logos Quiz, Unblock me, Solitaire, Sonic Jump,  Cut the Rope, and if you have internet connection TAPPED OUT. If you have an iPod/iPhone/Android here are some other apps I recommend; Words with friends, Bag it, Facebook and most certainly INSTAGRAM!
Why not take a gaming console such as a Nintendo DS, PSP, PS Vita?

Terry Pratchett - The World of Poo.
4. READ a book! Although you may think its boring, reading does really pass the time! If you might be on quite a noisy journey why not get some ear plugs to block out the sound? If you're not really a fan of books, bring a magazine that will just keep you going? In my case, I might take, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

5. SLEEP! As obvious as that may be, this is the easiest way to pass the time! Bring a blanket and pillow (even a cuddly toy) and just get comfy, ask the people in the car to be a little bit more quiet and just snooze off into your imagination! I also really recommend to dress in something comfy! Even if that means leggings and a slouchy top! Just make sure you    look presentable!

I hope these top 5 tips helped you out on your long journey! I will probably tell you how mine went!
If you want, tell me what you take on long trips in the comment below!
'till we meet again,

My Favourites of 2012!

Hello Everyone,

I would like to begin this blog by saying, HAPPY NEW YEAR! I hope you all had great holidays and just celebratory times. I decided to write a post today about my favourites of 2012, basically just my favourite music, movies and clothing items.
What shall we start with?
MUSIC!
My favourite genre of music is definitely alternative; that varies from indie pop, indie rock and just weird stuff! So these music choices are for those interested in Indie.
1. ARCTIC MONKEYS.
In 2012, I discovered my ultimate love of the Arctic Monkeys. It started off when I got my best friend hooked on Indie music, one day before school she told me about how much she loved the Arctic Monkeys, so I went home and listened to them and BY GOD they were amazing. So here I am six months later in love with the whole band! (Especially Alex Turner *wink wink*)

The album above (Whatever people say I am is what I'm not...) is my favourite album of all! A few of my favourite all time songs by these lot include; Brianstorm, Red indicates the doors are secured, dance little liar, when the sun goes down and suck it and see. If you are into good ol' rock, I highly recommend this band!

Another one of my favourite artists has been Mumford and Sons. They are more on the country side but they are bloody AMAZING! I love them so much I can't even explain it! I have loved these guys longer than the Arctic Monkeys and I discovered them before hand! Mumford and Sons are such amazing songs, and although many of them do include love and memories they are not portrayed in the normal cheesy way but in the most beautiful way of all. I honestly love both of the albums and I could not pick one as my favourite!

My most loved songs from these lot include; Little Lion Man, Broken Crown, I will wait but the next two songs I can not even describe how much I love them, these are The Boxer and After the Storm, they are so indescribably amazing! Definitely listen to them!

Lastly I would like to talk about Florence and the Machine, although I loved her already in 2011, I was granted an amazing opportunity to see her live in concert on March 10th 2012! This was the first concert I had ever been to and it was hosted in Alexandra Palace, London. It was one of the best experiences I have had in my life but what made the whole experience 1000x better was the fact that at one point I was on my dads shoulders and yes in fact, FLORENCE POINTED AT ME! I know it seems silly but her music is so beautiful and inspiring that I will cherish that moment for ever! I love all of her songs so I really can not pick any specifics!

The beautiful Florence and no there is no zoom here, this is actually how close we were!!

Although I loved Lana Del Rey, The Killers, and The Vaccines, these were definitely my top three of 2012!

MOVIES of 2012?
In 2012 many things changed for my overall personality, I  became a little bit more out there and just plain different and because of this I changed from being like everyone else I know and just becoming myself and this meant that I was watching films new and old!
I will give you a list of movies I recall watching in 2012 which I completely loved!
  • The Avengers
  • The Hobbit: And unexpected gathering.
  • Withnail and I
  • Scott Pilgrim Vs. the world
  • True Romance
  • Pride and Prejudice
  • Practical magic

This was my favourite film for at least 3 months on end.
And lastly CLOTHING items!
This year my style has not really changed I will just give you the basics of what has happened!
I have worn my Chuck Taylor All Star Converse Ox Slims to DEATH! Their colour even changed from white to a strange peach colour! The inside of the back is completely distraught and I am getting a hole in the bottom but I still love them! I now just use them for PE in school but they shall always be my babies!
I have also just been living in jeans! I am a huge fan of jeans! They are just so easy and casual and I can't imagine living without them!
Now that I think about it, those were the two main staples of my clothing because if you would ever see me, I am usually just in a jacket, t-shirt, jeans and converse!

What were your favourites of 2012? These were mine!
I hope you enjoyed this blog post as much as I enjoyed writing it! Thank you ever so much for reading!
'till we meet again...
Wow its Nelly.
xoxo
